When Jasmine was little she started getting febrile seizures when her fever would spike really high, really fast. My best line of defence? Catching a fever early and treating it aggressively.
I’ve since been using the Braun ThermoScan Ear Thermometer – almost 7 years now! – and its worked perfectly every time. I’ve always found it worked best on kids over the age of 1 – before that the ears are really too small to get an accurate reading. Changes in body temperature are reflected sooner in the ear than any other part of the body and the probe covers help prevent the transmission of germs when used by multiple family members. Our thermometer logged many miles and I felt lost when it died on us this year.
We tried cheaper brands but none were as accurate or as easy to use. Some took so long to get a reading that my kids would wiggle and squirm and I’d have to start over.
When I found out I could review the ThermoScan I jumped at the chance because I knew I wasn’t going to be disappointed. At a suggested retail price of $79 it’s well worth the price. Mom tip? Try Costco, it’s often less expensive there!
Since we received one as a gift the same week I was sent one to review I’m giving one away to a lucky reader as part of the #AngelesFavoriteThings Holiday Giveaway! Simply comment on this post and use the form below to enter the contest! The winner will be announced on Monday December 23rd.
Have you used ear thermometers? What do you like about them? What’s your best tip for dealing with fevers?
